What we do

Optimal Power Networks Ltd is an IDNO licenced by Ofgem. We adopt, own, operate and invest in electricity distribution networks across the whole of Great Britain.

Working closely with Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) and directly with Developers and their Consultants where required, we collaborate with our clients to create flexible designs, allowing innovation in delivery, future proofing of networks and reduction in connection costs. In addition, we can provide significant and market-leading capital contributions from our own funds towards our clients’ network infrastructure.

Looking after our customers

IDNOs are regulated by Ofgem to meet reliability, service and performance standards just like the Distribution Network Operators (DNOs).

Customers connected to our networks benefit from regulated charges, freedom of choice of supplier and guaranteed performance standards. We operate a 24/7 Advanced Network Control Room, with operations and maintenance expertly managed in-house, ensuring network security of supply.

We put safety at the heart of everything we do – we do things safely or not at all.
